Naruto Shippuden Episode 238

Naruto Shippuden Episode 238 Review:

Episode 238 is another filler episode, showing Sai in his day off from work. The episode takes a while to show the plot of the episode, and quite frankly, I don’t think there even was one. It’s just an episode showing Sai walking around, thinking about Naruto and the new team Kakashi. Definitely worth skipping as this is one of the worst and meaningless filler episodes.

Naruto Shippuden Episode 238 Summary / Synopsis:

Naruto Shippuden episode 238 begins by showing a flash back when Sai was drawing a painting and being approached by Sakura, back when Sai was relatively new to the new team Kakashi. In the flashback, Naruto says that Sai’s drawing is nothing special and becomes angry when Sai insults you back, challenging Sai to fight him any time. The flashback ends, showing Sai in the present time drawing on top of a cliff, watching Konoha being rebuilt. He walks through the village while people are hard at work, moving materials to help rebuild.

He walks over to see children playing inside of various buildings that have been destroyed and advises the children not to play under the rubble, just in case it collapses on them. As he continues walking, he see’s more men trying to pull over a large tree stump with ropes. Eventually he makes his way over to a flower on the ground and pulls out his sketch pad and paints a picture of it. Without realizing it, the children from earlier followed him and became amazed that he was so good at drawing, asking if Sai was a manga artist.

“My drawings are not for others to see,” he says when asked to see his work. Trying not to offend the children, he quickly draws a few small animals which all spring to life, distracting the children whom all chase after them. The group of kids begin fighting and the female of the group is shown hitting the male members. Sai remembers the incredible power of Sakura and remembers when he was once hit by her amazing strength.

Sai begins wandering through the forest, remembering bonds between his team mates and Sasuke, the team mate that Sai replaced in the group. More flashbacks are shown where Sakura tries to express her feelings for Naruto, which Naruto didn’t buy. Sai exits the forest he walked through to find men returning with wood to rebuild Konoha. A very large boulder is seen, along with more destroyed houses outside the main part of the village, showing the extend of the destruction cause by Pain. An old man passes and tells Sai that the members living in a house nearby are at the evacuation shelter.

Another flashback is shown where the new Team Kakashi ventures in the forest at night on a mission, where Naruto and Sai begin fighting in the forest. As Sai tries to leave the fight, a bridge of Naruto replicates pull him down. The two are interrupted by their team captain, Yamato, whom was actually a fake replicate of Naruto. The replicate grabs Sai and holds him while the real Naruto tries to land a Rasengan. A giant crater separates the two, whom both lay exhausted on the ground. Sai compliments his abilities, but still tells Naruto not to declare it a victory.

In the present time, Sai remembers Naruto’s dedication to bring Sasuke back, but remembers his encounter with Sasuke himself and the cold, frightening eyes that Sasuke possessed. He see’s how Naruto’s feelings were always the same, always continuing to try and bring Sasuke back, even though Sasuke had a much different view. Another flashback is shown where Kakashi gives instructions to Sai not to report information about Naruto to the Hokage, back when Danzo was still alive. Again in the present time, Sai brings out a book of his brother and thinks about the future between the group of him, Naruto, and Sakura.

He brings out his notepad and draws a picture of Naruto, Sai, Sasuke, and Sakura all holding hands on a collection of new doors that will go in place and leaves the area.

Hyuuga Neji Biography – Naruto and Naruto Shippuden

Part 2: Jounin
First Appearance: Naruto Episode 21

Hyuuga Neji is a main supporting character, first seen in episode 21 of the first Naruto series. In the first series, the series ended with him still as the rank of a Genin. When Shippuden began, he had already advanced to the level of a Jounin. He has long, brown hair and pupil-less, light purple colored eyes, a trait of the Hyuuga clan. His first appearance was along with his team mates, Rock Lee and Tenten, during the groups participation in the Chuunin exams.

Neji comes from what is considered to be a branch family, or a part of the family that carries a cursed mark that forces them to protect and serve the main branch part of the family. In the beginning of the series he believed heavily in fate and that only Genius’s like himself would ever succeed as Shinobi. He laughed at Rock Lee for attempting to become a good ninja with Taijutsu alone as well as his opponent in the Chuunin exam finals, Naruto.

It was during this final battle where Neji began to realize that a Shinobi controls his own fate and can be victorious by having a strong mindset. Although Neji clearly outclassed Naruto, Naruto’s persistence gave him a victory over Neji, a battle that surprised the entire village that watched.

Abilities

Neji was considered, by his team mate Rock Lee, to be the strongest Genin that was participating in the Chuunin exams. Seeing as how he is from the Hyuuga clan, a clan that possesses the ocular bloodline ability called the Byakugan (an ability that closely resembles the Sharingan and the Rinnegan), he is also able to use the Byakugan. The Byakugan is an ability that allows him to see the chakra circulatory system, as well as a nearly 360 degree field of vision, with a very small blind spot that was eventually discovered by Kidomaru, one of Orochimaru’s henchmen that was sent to retrieve Sasuke from Konoha.

His ability also allows him to strike the circulatory system of chakra, causing an inability for his opponent to correctly mold chakra. Most of these strikes come from a Taijutsu-based form of attack, causing internal trauma that affects the internal organs and has the capability of killing an opponent. After the Chuunin exams, he is seen a few more times on missions that were created as filler episodes and seen more times, as an older Jounin, during missions in Shippuden.

Jiraiya Biography

jiraiya1
Name: Jiraiya
Age: 54(Deceased)
Sex: Male
Height: 191.2 cm / 6’3″
Weight 87.5 kg / 193 pounds
Rank: Legendary Sannin
First Appearance: Naruto Episode 52

Jiraiya is one of the three legendary Sannin, deemed this title along with Orochimaru and Tsunade, after battling with Hanzo of the Salamander, the leader of Amegakure at the time. He also has the title of “Sage” or “Toad Sage”, due to his comprehensive ability to summon toads as well as his Sage Mode ability. First seen in Naruto episode 52, Jiraiya was immediately portrayed as a silly, perverted person that could never be taken seriously. He is called “ero-sennin” by Naruto, otherwise known as “Perverted Hermit”.

As a child, Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru were all students of the Third Hokage. Jiraiya’s part in the group was very similar to Naruto’s part in Team 7. While traveling the world, Jiraiya found Mount Myoboku, the place where his toad summons reside. After becoming a Jounin and leading his own squad, Jiraiya became the teacher of the soon to be fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze along with two other unknown Genin. Minato, who would later become the father of Naruto, interested Jiraiya and the two had a close relationship, just like Naruto and Jiraiya would soon have.

Jiraiya does a lot of traveling, “researching” women (the term he uses for spying on women bathing in the hot springs) and writing books about it, with popular titles such as “make out tactics” etc. Kakashi is often seen reading these books, blushing whenever a new volume is released. Similarly to the relationship between Sasuke and Naruto, Jiraiya set out to try and convince his old team mate, Orochimaru, to come back to the village.

Physical Appearance

Jiraiya is a tall man with a muscular, yet in-shape build. He also wears sandals that increase his height to give him an even larger appearance. He has always had very long, spiky white hair and red lines that fall down his face from his eyes. Although he wore different outfits during his lifetime, his last outfit, consisting of a green shirt and pants with a red cloak above, was seen most of the time during the series.

Ninjutsu

Jiraiya had an extensive knowledge of ninjutsu. Some popular techniques were having the ability to extend, sharpen, and harden his hair whenever he chose. Various summons, such as the very large Toad King Gamabunta, as well as Fukasaku and Shima, helped him in battle. He was able to use the inside of the toad summons bodies to trap him, along with anybody else, inside. The walls of the inside of the toad’s stomach was able to read a persons pulse, as well as trap them against the wall. Jiraiya used this technique to tell whether a man was lying or not while questioning him about Pain.

Sage mode was an ability where Jiraiya collected natural energy and summoned Fukasaku and Shima on top of his shoulders, two elder toads from Mount Myoboku that could use genjutsu techniques and aid him in battle. During Sage Mode, Jiraiya could attack and defend at an extreme speed, and use nature-based attacks, which to many, are un-dodge-able. He is great at sealing techniques as well.

Although Jiraiya is often portrayed as a goofy ninja that lacked seriousness, he was very intelligent and knew when he needed to actually address matters in a serious way.

Role In Naruto

Jiraiya was first seen peeping on women in a hot spring while Naruto was being trained by Ebisu, in preparation for the finals of the Chuunin exams. Jiraiya quickly took over the role of being Naruto’s trainer, after showing his skill when confronted by Ebisu. The first attack that they concentrated on was the Rasengan, an ability that, at the time, only Jiraiya and the Fourth Hokage could do. After the Chuunin exams, Jiraiya continued training Naruto and took Naruto into training for two years, which had passed between the end of Naruto and the beginning of Naruto Shippuden.

During Naruto Shippuden, Jiraiya invaded Amegakure in search for more information on the Akatsuki. It was there that he found Pain, who ended up being his former student, as well as the current ruler of Amegakure. The two battled, with Pain having the clear upper hand. Although Jiraiya had a chance to escape, he chose to stay and fight in an effort to find out the secret behind Pain. Pain was able to drive various poles into Jiraiya’s back, killing him. Although Jiraiya’s life force was already gone, Jiraiya willed himself into carving a code onto Fukasaku’s back, so that he could give the secret of Pain’s ability to Konoha.
